2. Home Renovations and Retail Remodels: dumpsters are needed to dispose of debris for home improvement and retail remodel projects of all sizes such as kitchen remodels, room additions, or whole-house renovations to upgrading a fast food restaurant or rebuilding a big box retail where large quantities of materials need disposal.
3. Cleanouts: Dumpsters are needed not only for remodels but also for clearing out estate, homes, or office clean outs particularly after a sale of a property owner or an office moveout, to manage assorted items ranging from furniture to personal belongings.
4. Emergency or Disaster Relief Situations In the aftermath of natural disasters such as hurricanes, earthquakes, or floods. Dumpsters are critical in the aftermath of natural disasters like floods or storms for the removal of damaged household items, ruined furnishings, and debris.
5. Large Event Cleanup: Used at major public or private events such as music festivals, sports events, or large parties, to handle the disposal of food waste, decorations, and other trash.
6. Roofing Projects: Dumpsters are used for all roofing projects. They are essential for disposing of old roofing materials like shingles and underlayment from commercial buildings or multiple residential units.

Five tips when renting a roll-off dumpster
Here are five tips when renting a roll-off dumpster
1. Choose the Right Size
Assess the scale of your project accurately to select the most appropriate dumpster size. Overestimating can lead to unnecessary costs, while underestimating may require a second rental. Common sizes include 10, 20, 30, and 40 cubic yards. For most home projects, a 20-yard dumpster is often sufficient, but always discuss your project details with the rental company for advice.
2. Understand the Pricing
Different dumpster rentals may have different terms. You may have to pay more if you exceed the dumpster rental weight limit or keep it longer than the rental period. You don’t want to pay extra; be clear about what your contract includes and what it doesn’t. This way there won’t be any surprises. Your contract will include a haul rate, the cost per haul, how many tons are included, the charge if you go over your tonnage amount, the days included, and the charge per day after your allotted dates. Be sure to ask an ASAP Marketplace advisor to help you understand your dumpster pricing.
3. Check for Permits
Some localities require permits for placing a dumpster on public property, such as the street. Check with your local city or municipal office to determine if you need a permit and how to obtain it before your dumpster is delivered.
4. Prepare the Drop-off Location
Ensure the area where you plan to place the dumpster is accessible and clear of obstacles. The location should be on solid, flat ground to support the weight of the dumpster when filled. Also, make sure the placement adheres to any local regulations and doesn’t block public access. Clear a space about 20 feet long by 11 feet wide. Always ensure you have at least 25 feet of vertical clearance. If you are placing it on a driveway use plywood to protect your driveway from cracking. If you have a sprinkler system do not place it on your yard as the dumpster will likely break your sprinklers.
5. Understand Prohibited Items
Familiarize yourself with items that cannot be disposed of in a roll-off dumpster. Generally, hazardous materials, flammable liquids, tires, batteries, and certain electronics are prohibited. Disposing of such materials in the dumpster can result in fines. Always ask the rental company for a list of prohibited items.
Following these tips can help you avoid complications and make your dumpster rental experience smooth and efficient.
