So you’ve decided to rent porta potties. We’re thrilled to be working with you. Once you’ve worked out the initial kinks like deciding how many portable toilets you need and what types you should provide for guests, you’ll need to figure out your portable toilet placement. When considering where to place your portable toilet, you’ll want to consider a variety of factors to ensure that it’s easily accessible to guests as well as securely positioned.
Here Are Some Factors to Consider When determining portable toilet location
- A level, sturdy plot of land. The last thing you want is for your porta potty to topple over, especially while someone’s in it. For that reason, the first and foremost factor to consider is whether the land you’re planning to place your porta potty is even, flat, and won’t allow the structure to be nudged.
- Ease of access for dropoff and pickup. You want to place your portable toilet in a spot that’s easily accessible to the haulers who will be doing the physical placement. If you desire to place your porta potty in a hard-to-reach spot, it might not work. Our recommendation here is to keep things simple.
- Account for the possibility of rain. While our porta potty rentals are equipped to withstand the elements such as rain, it’s best not to place your portable toilet in a spot of land that you know is prone to get muddy when it rains. If the ground beneath a porta potty becomes muddy, the structure could become prone to slipping and sliding. What’s more, if your guests are forced to tread through the mud to get to the bathroom, they’ll track the mess inside with them and the unit will become much dirtier much faster. This is an especially important factor to consider if renting ADA handicap portable toilets.
- Don’t overcrowd your porta potties. Don’t try to cram all your portable toilets into a small space. It’s hard for haulers to move around large objects such as portable toilets in limited spaces. It’s also nice to give people some degree of added privacy when using the porta potty. Sure, they’ll be in their own private bathroom space regardless, but they’ll undoubtedly appreciate extra space.
- Easy access to bathroom-goers. Providing easy access for dropoff and pickup is one thing. Making your porta potties visible and easy to get to for the people who will be using them is another. Try not to place your porta potties far away from the action, as it can be a nuisance for people who need to use the bathroom to have to go far out of their way.
- Keep out of the main area of attention. This might go without being said, but your porta potty is not the party, it’s there so that people at the party can use the bathroom. While you want to make sure porta potties are easy to spot, you also don’t want to make them the center of attention. Place them on the side of the action, not somewhere in the middle.
- Put it against a fence or wall if you can. If you have a sturdy fence or a wall you can place your portable toilet against, it’s not a bad idea. This will decrease the odds of your portable toilet shifting in the case of high winds or other inclement conditions.
- Consider the size of your porta potty. If you’re renting a number of standard-size porta potties, you can likely place them together in a smaller area. But if you’re renting a larger porta potty, like the ADA handicap model, for example, you should plan to place it in a bigger space.
