Tips for Renting Roll-off Dumpsters

    • Pick the right size: Account for both the amount of waste you need to dispose of and the amount of available space on-site when choosing your dumpster rental.
    • Drop-off location: Make accommodations to ensure your rental is accessible by service providers.
    • Local regulations: Check with local regulations to check whether a permit is required or if there are specific placement restrictions
    • Debris Type: Make sure the type of trash you’re managing matches up with the dumpster you rent—some materials require specific rental types, e.g appliances.

Dumpster Placement and Removal

Once you have decided which dumpster you would like to rent, you will need to decide when and where it should be delivered. We do not guarantee specific delivery times. If you will need your dumpster first thing in the morning, we recommend scheduling delivery for the day prior.

If no one will be on-site to receive your rental dumpster, be sure to provide detailed placement instructions and ensure the driver will have safe and convenient access to the area where you would like the dumpster placed.

Frequently Asked Questions

With decades of experience in the industry, we know just about everything there is to know about portable toilets and sanitation services. Here are a few of the questions we hear the most from our customers.

How do I know what size roll-off dumpster I need?

blank blank
The roll-off dumpster size you need depends on the size of your project and how much space you have to store the dumpster. Roll-off dumpster rental sizes are typically measured in cubic yards. The exterior dimensions of the dumpster are usually measured in feet. To find the volume of a dumpster you simply multiply the exterior dimensions of width, height and length in feet and then divide the final figure by 27 to determine total volume in cubic yards. See our Blog Post here or ask an ASAP Advisor. See our Blog Post here or ask an ASAP Advisor.

Am I able to choose where the roll-off dumpster is placed?

blank blank
We recommend placing on a flat, hard surface with room to access both ends and that will not block any of your entryways. If there are concerns about potential damage to the surface of where you’re requesting placement, we recommend putting down a piece of plywood for protection. If you’d like to request we place the dumpster on the road or street in front of your house, be sure that you have a permit to provide to us for the dumpster prior to the delivery.

How long can I rent a roll-off dumpster?

blank blank
Roll-off dumpsters are typically rented by the week. You might find them rented on a monthly basis, but expect weekly dumpster rental rates.

What happens if I overfill the dumpster?

blank blank
If debris is filled above the wall height or items are included in the container making the container overweight, you would be responsible for off-loading the container into another dumpster. This additional dumpster service would force having to pay for another container and the labor involved with making the container safe to haul.

What would happen if the container is unable to be removed because the driver could not access it?

blank blank
There would be a dry-run fee assessed for the wasted trip to the location.

Would there be any additional fees after paying for the roll-off dumpster at the time the order is placed?

blank blank
Other than the charge per cubic yard of the dumpster, additional fees can occur if you exceed your allotted tonnage amount or exceed the number of days included in the rental.

Do I need to be present when the roll-off dumpster is delivered?

blank blank
No, you do not have to be onsite at the time of delivery or removal. However, to ensure we are meeting your expectations, we ask that you provide specific placement instructions and contact information for the person who would be available to take a call should questions arise.

Can I place a dumpster in my yard?

blank blank
When it comes to placing a roll-off dumpster on your grass, it's best to proceed with caution. There are a few factors to consider. First, you'll want to make sure that the ground is sturdy enough to support the weight of the dumpster. If the ground is too soft, the dumpster could sink and cause damage to the grass. Additionally, you'll want to avoid placing the dumpster on any sprinkler heads or septic systems. If you have a septic tank, make sure you clearly mark it's location. A fully loaded truck can weight 15 tonnes and it can collapse into your septic tank.

Can I place a dumpster on my driveway?

blank blank
Driveways and streets are ideal locations for a roll-off dumpster. In most cases, a roll-off dumpster can be safely placed on your driveway without causing any damage. However, it's important to note that some factors may affect whether or not this is possible, such as the weight of the dumpster and the condition of your driveway. Particularly heavy dumpsters can crack your driveway. We recommend placing plywood down to help add an additional layer of protection.

What can’t be placed in the roll off dumpster?

blank blank
We can not accept any type of hazardous waste such as pesticides, motor oil, freon, tires, etc. We ask that when placing the order, you disclose what you’re looking to dispose of so that we can advise of any potential issues. Including these items could result in additional fees and having to unload these items prior to removal.

Will my dumpster material be recycled?

blank blank
Your local hauler will be sure to take into account what can and cannot be recycled. If you will have a large amount of construction and demolition debris, you can order an additional dumpster for recyclable materials that can be brought directly to recycling services.
